Sprint U301

Just got one sent to me for Eval from sprint.

It is the next Gen 4G card from Sprint..

Will plug it in in the AM and see what shakes out…

Will post results..

Seen is system/resource/USB… Not in ports.. Not supprisd..

This module however, works under MacOS, There are drivers on Sprint’s site..

I am in contact with Franklin Wireless (The OEM for Sprint) (They OEM it from C-motech (spelling),)

I will see if I can get a raw linux driver to get to MikroTik…

Will update as available..

So…

I am being told that to connect to the 4G network, using their card, the device must be “certified”..

Now just sit back and take that in for a moment…

Using their card, they want the device certified…
Ummm windows “certified” for network access… You MUST be kidding…

And a firewall/router Not certified…

Well off I go to get the firewall / router “certified” so I can get a driver… so that I can connect some “certified” windows boxes to the 4G net…

I smell a lack of logic here…

Curious where this stands. I’m evaluating use of RouterOS for my home network as I’m currently using WinXP for network sharing and it SUCKS!

I got a MBR1000, but support for the U301 appears to be very slow and I’m kinda ticked off that it’s not released yet. I guess this is what I get for Bleeding edge.

Is there anything special that needs to be done to be able to use the U301? Does it work well with 4G?

Thanks!

Vandi

make supout.rif and send to support, we will make it work

Normis…

I am usinf the U301 (Sprint) in my test Blackbird. (The black Atom based box I had with me at the last USA MUM)..

Runs great..

Speed is GREATLY affected by signal.. as expected.
I have no 4G here in Phoenix yet.. but when the 598Us ase a bit slow, I can plug the 301U in and it out performs them even without an external antenna..

I have the specs for the Ext Antenna cable (s), there are several dedicated (per sub radio) and one "main / shared connector).

I have been using the same Init string/config as the 598U…

You can get access to my setup if you want to play with it again… Just let me know to have it running..

Have a great one !!

Craig- I’ve serached your posts regarding the U301 and it looks like it should work. But I’m having trouble. I’m using 4.10. When I plug it in I see two serial ports, one has 4 data channel, the other 1.

There is nothing special in my ppp-cl config:
/interface ppp-client
add add-default-route=yes allow=pap,chap,mschap1,mschap2 comment=“”
data-channel=0 dial-command=ATDT dial-on-demand=no disabled=no
info-channel=0 keepalive-timeout=30 max-mru=1500 max-mtu=1500
modem-init=“” mrru=disabled name=ppp-out1 null-modem=no password=“”
phone=#777 pin=“” port=usb2 profile=default use-peer-dns=yes user=“”

Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Mike

Dont have my blackbird at the house tonight..
I left it at work.. I didnt think I needed it and so i didnt take it down…

I will post the config in the AM..

Craig

NOTE: the 300 /301U can use the same init string as the 598U..
just havent seen much differance with it on /off..

Craig,

I have been reading your threads and have decided to resurrect this one. I am having problems with a u300 and rb411u. Running ros5. I had this running on beta 5rc7 and was working. I use this as a backup ap and have not paid much attention to it. Yesterday I was fooling around with it and realized that it was no longer connected to the Sprint network. In winbox it shows Status: reseting link.. I reset the configs and just would not work. I plugged the 300u in to my laptop and it works flawlessly. Here are my configs…

Flags: X - disabled, R - running
0 name=“ppp-out1” max-mtu=1500 max-mru=1500 mrru=disabled port=usb2
data-channel=0 info-channel=0 pin=“” user=“” password=“” profile=default
phone=“#777” dial-command=“ATDT”
modem-init=“ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0” null-modem=no
dial-on-demand=no add-default-route=yes use-peer-dns=yes
keepalive-timeout=30 allow=pap,chap,mschap1,mschap2

try to reboot or hard reboot the board and check again. Do not change any settings and do not access using info command or serial communication.

That would be my first step..

Sorry I missed the post over the weekend…

Let me know what happens..
