Hi.
Is it safe to use a SR5 (400mw 5ghz mini pci) on a 230 RB in the pci slot on a RB14 ? I have heard horror stories with this combination. There are also 2x cm9 cards on the RB14.
Please advise if possible ?
I don’t know what horror stories you’ve heard but I use that exact setup except with 3 CM9’s and 1 SR5, and haven’t had any troubles at all.
What horror stories are you talking about? Do card die and return at night as zombies?

The pci power controller on the RB230 cannot deliver the power required by the sr5 or sr2 so when the cards run at full speed it burns the controller out. Run the sr5 above 5.4ghz and see what happens. I know a few people that have done this and it killed their rb230’s. Well it killed their PCI slot and left the rest of the card working. When I meant horror stories it was because it happened and they had no idea what the cause was so they simply replaced the 230 with another and placed the same cards back on only to have the same thing happen again… and this was to their main controlling base station
