I have installed a SR5 card in my system and I am running 2.8.28.
Under the interface general tab is shows the card type as AR5213. Should it not show as a AR5004? Also why do I only have 4 freq in the 5.8 band?
AR5213 is the name of the chip, and AR5004x is the name of the chipset, which also includes the AR5112…
Chipset AR5004x contains:
- AR5112 ROC(Radio on Chip)
- AR5213 Processor/Controller
The AR5213 chip sits “between” the AR5112 and the rest of the system, so the system only “sees” the AR5213, while the AR5213 handles the AR5112…
I don’t know about the SR5 card under version 2.8.x, but I know it works well for me under 2.9… Maybe it is because the SR5 is new, and 2.8.x is old, so the card is not fully specifically supported besides the fact that it is based on a standard Atheros chipset. Just a thought…
