I’ve been considering adding some SR9’s to our network but I haven’t been able to get a response from support@ubnt.com about this question:
I want to run 802.11b/g and an SR9 in the same chassis (RB112) - is the SR9 in any way (internally or externally) succeptable to 2.4ghz interference?
I ask because if its a downconverter-based device it will definetly have interference issues in the same chassis. If its a “real” 900 radio solution it should not.
I suspect its a converter due to the size and price of the device. If its succeptable to 2.4 interference I’ll likely just go with Canopy 900 and a consumer router/AP - it’d similar priced and it’d “just work”. I’d rather not give motorola any of my money, though
The SR9 can see a 2.4ghz AP. I have a SR9 and a CM9 in one case. The CM9 is a 2.4 AP working on channel 11. When I scan with the SR9, it can see the 2.4 AP at -86db on channel 11.
With the CM9 AP off, the SR9 noise floor is -93 and -86 (duh!) when the CM9 is on.
I think that the SR9 is some kind of down converter from 2400mhz to 900mhz.
By the way, the SR9 works great! This AP is a WRAP and is feeded by a RB112 on a distance of 1.5km. It is NLOS cause the law in this particular town do not permit us to mount a tower high enough to clear the trees, houses, etc. I have a signal of -70dB with some weird 9dBm grid antennas. The throughput of this link is 15 mbps, but it is limited by the cpu of the RB112. Anyways, it is more than enough for 5-6 CPE.
