SSID/NV2 - Best way of changing all SSID's to run NV2?

Hi all

I would like to find out what will be the best way of changing SSID’s on the client site? What we want to do is to make all SSID’s the same so that all client’s can connect to the master interface so that we can enable NV2 protocal.

What we are doing now is logging into client’s uplink and manually changing the SSID and then client will connect to the SSID of the master interface and not then the VAP.

If anyone could give some clear advice it will be very helpfull. ( I know a person can just write a script and run that, but how do we prevent client from NOT COMING BACK ONLINE?)

Thank you

You will have to leave AP till last and change each CPE, I would recommend for wireless protocol use “nv2 nstreme 802.11” and not “Any” that way CPE will connect regardless which is used, NV2 security needs to set on each CPE, You could also have both SSID of VAP + main SSID in wireless connect list (signal strength range -100..100) that way if a CPE does not connect to main SSID, disable it for a few moments and reable by then that CPE should have connected to VAP, login and check what prevented it connecting to your main ssid.

Hi

Thank you for the info, another question. What is the correct way of setting up NV2 cause we have encounter a problem on our High site with the one sector that is running NV2. It was running with no problems and no client’s complaining. We had a power outage and the routerboard left this world.

  1. Is running NV2 just on one sector on a High a problem or will it cause problems?
  2. Now with new routerboard in and everything setup on it, clients have now problems with speed and Tx/Rx CCQ in the 10/15 with Mikrotik throughput under 1 Mbps.

There is a few other items you have to consider when running NV2,
(1) RF screening of AP to reduce or eliminate unwanted signals,
(2) Location on mast which is critical (as above),

With regards new routerboard
(a) You inspected cables for damage or burn out signs before powering up new board,
(b) Are you using a new radio card (or board with built in radio card),
(c) You are sure you put back AP in the same exact position, ( I remove AP from mounting brackett so when put back it’s in the exact same position)
(d) Is there reduced ccq on all clients or just a few, what was the signal level to the clients before you replaced the board,
(e) Have you got a UPS on site or AC filtering,
