Hi Everyone,
How would I enable clients with static addresses to co-exist with clients whom are addresses dynamically when the MikroTik RouterOS is doing the addressing for the dynamics?
Let me explain further.
In the beginning, all dynamic clients were addressed in the 10.0.10.xxx range. This was done with my ISA server. Now that we have passed the 253 or so allowable addresses in this area, I need to find a way to make some more. So… I was going to use the MikroTik A.P. to hand out addresses in another place to ease the load on the 10.0.10.xx range.
My theory was to have the MikroTik A.P. hand out address in the 10.1.11.XXX range for channel 11, and 10.1.1.xxx for channel 1, etc. I then used the NAT rules, DSTNAT and SRCNAT.
To route between the ether and the wlan addresses.
OK. I tested it with one of my notebook computers. Works good.
Now… How do I use this for statically addressed clients?
Can clients whom are statically addressed get through this channel’s to the outside world?
Normally, these clients will have static reservations on their side of their client bridge, i.e. as in their router, etc. They would be someplace like 64.142.120.XXX in the world, with the same default gateway as our network.
Any ideas? Can these people co-exist with this configuration? I would think so, because their client radio would define the default in network gateway for them, but I can’t be sure and I don’t want to go live with something that may not work for everyone.
Your thoughts, please…
Adam
