Hi guys, I have this problem on my Mikrotik, I have set a STATIC IP from my ISP, DNS and Gateway, but it didnot work,
so I went to routes and I see there 3 entries :
[admin@MikroTik] /ip route> print detail
Flags: X - disabled, A - active, D - dynamic,
C - connect, S - static, r - rip, b - bgp, o - ospf, m - mme,
B - blackhole, U - unreachable, P - prohibit
0 A S dst-address=0.0.0.0/0 gateway=my gateway IP here
gateway-status=ether1-gateway reachable check-gateway=ping distance=1
scope=30 target-scope=10
So I changed the first one where it says my ip to my ether1-gateway this is the incoming cable from my ISP.
after this everything works fine, I have internet and everything alse works BUT!!!
the problem is no, when I open the Quick set, it shows red on the right side where the ISP gateway adress must be, it shows 0.0.0.0 and is red, so I can click X and close it, but it means I would not be able to change anything on this screen, If I do, I need to put a gateway adress, and as soon as I put it and click save, I loose the internet connection again.
anybody knows how to solve this ?
This one is verry funny, I have tried 5 different mikrotiks, all have the same problem, I dont get this, I had one other mikrotik a week ago, that one worked fine, but that one is gone now, so I have only left new in box and all of this new ones giving me same problem, as soon as I set gateway in the quickset my internet goes down, then I have to go to the routes and select the route of in from my ISP and set the IP of the Gateway to interface : ether1-gateway than it works, but then on the page of quickset the gateway field becomes 0.0.0.0 and red colored. everything works fine but this field is not changing, so I cannot use the quickset page anymore cause as soon I want to apply the config it says gateway adress cannot be 0, and when I change it to the right gateway IP it turns off the internet again.
I’m afraid that maybe I’m doing something wrong ? but we are talking here about new in the box routers 5 of them all same.
(notice the /24 subnet)
Obviously, the gateway IP is not on the network of your WAN IP, and that is why it does not work when you put the gateway, which should look something like x.x.225.x
I think I have done that too, but it did not work, now I have access but I cannot try, cause if it goes down my mail server will be unavailable, tomorrow I’ll try it from the office… thanks for now.
