Static WAN IP and Route help

I have never used a static IP for wan… usually just PPPoE. However I have used statics on other gear. I added the IP to the WAN interface. Pinging from the terminal, I get a “no route”. So I add one and get ping time outs.

I was given an IP of x.x.98.146 and a GW of x.x.98.145 (i.e. /30).

Am I missing something ? I have added my laptop to the IP bindings bypass for the hotspot… and disabled all firewall filters. Still nothing.

1.1. = X.X.

Your address and route config looks OK, so maybe problem is located outside MikroTik/RouterOS. Try to connect your laptop directly to WAN (I suppose this is ADSL modem or something similar) and check connection.

Regards, Grzegorz.

That is what I was thinking, however I am connected via wifi to the mikrotik. The WAN link goes across the wireless backhaul. I will have to check it tomorrow as it is on a hospital roof. I just wanted to make sure that I was not missing anything obvious.

Success… someone had the wrong port tagged upstream… all is well.
