Status of Network map in a Network map?

I can place a network map inside a network map (submap), but the status of the network map inside doesn’t show as a up/down device in the parent map.

Is this just a glaring feature mistake?

Or is there some trick to get it to show?

I want a main view that will tell me nested map status(es).

There is not a trick that I know of. But it would be a great feature.
