Strange 2.4GHz results - RB711-2Hn

Hi,

We are having a bit of a strange issue, we have have a site with 200’ tower that has a large wave guide going up to a high gain boradcast omni. This site was once used by another carrier who operated an MMDS system. We are doing some testing and when we connect an RB711-2Hn to the wave guide we are able to get a remote unit online however the signals are very different. We can hear the CPE at -54, yet the CPE can only hear us at -80. We thought it might have been a bad board or connector so we had an RB411AH + UBNT XR2 card, same exact issue, signals slightly different due to output power difference on the XR2 but ratio still way off.

We then popped a UBNT Bullet M2 on and magically our signal RX at the CPE that was -80 before was not -54. The CPE was an RB711-2Hn in all cases with a 14dbi ITElite panel antenna.

Any one have any ideas on what could be going on here?

We have tried swapping the MMCX to N jumper as well as the N to N jumper between the MMCX and the wave guide. So everything I can think of has been swapped even RB711 to RB411 and different RF cards.

Thanks
Tom

Seems like some issue with antenna cables or pigtails or joints
the bullet m2 connects w/o them so better RX

Yeah we thought so as well but have since swapped all cable jumpers and pig tails…we only had a 2’ lmr400 jumper so cable length is no issue.

It is a strange one for sure.

Tom
