From what I read online, if a device specifies a client-id in a dhcp request, that client ID is how a DHCP server shall identify that device. If a client-id is not specified, then the MAC address of the client will be used to identify the device.
I can’t figure out the point of client-ids when identifying clients by MAC works ok.
