Strange connection tracking behavior

I’m running CCR1036 RouterOS v6.38.5 as an ADSL service LNS.

  • I have a couple of firewall mangle rules and a dozen raw rules. Connection tracking is disabled but nevertheless the router is tracking connections. Is this because the mangle rules?
  • I’m graphing active connections (one sample every 5 min) and I noticed that it keeps going up and down during about 50% of the day as shown in the attached graph. Anybody can explain?

Is it possible that RouterOS has a cron job that purges idle connections every hour?

Maybe the connection just timeouts… See the connection tab. Or you can schedule your own job to remove the connections regularly.
