Strange CPU peaks, ~30%, without any traffic, logons, etc.

Hi,

since a view month I investigate a strange problem. We’re using 2.9.97 (32 MB ide-flash )on a pentium II with 200 MHz / 128 MB memory and an atheros radio card for connecting six wlan (some laptops, some bridges) clients to our company network. We set up one wlan with wpa-psk encryption and also a virtual access points with wep encryption for the older clients.

Normally there is without traffic an cpu usage ~ 0-1%.
With normal traffic at business times, surfing, e-mail, downloads, etc. there is an cpu usage by ~ 5%.

Sometimes, twice a week and mostly in the evening I get an peek of 25% about two hours. In this time the wlan clients, which using the wep encrypted network log of, log in, log of, log in.

I tried to activate logging on every process, with no advantage. I don’t see which process is responsable for strange behavior.

I could change the wlan networks, so that WPA-PSK network belongs to the virtual AP, but is there a possibilty to get a list of all processes unix like “ps or top”?

(Sorry for my bad english!)

Do you need any hinds?

Thanks in advantage.
