Router 951G
When I ping router IP from 2m in direct sight, I get very unstable results:
Router is installed under roof of terrace. Another router on top of it in 0.5m.
What could be the cause of this poor performance? What should I check first?

Try reduce the power, and look then what for ping result.
Where can I reduce it?
Wifi scanning results are here http://take.ms/1UNvw
for reduce the power go to “wireless” wireless interface klik on advanced right below
Set antenna gain example on 10 dB on both sites
-29 dB is to match signal
for good must the around -60 dB

Reduced Antenna gain to 10 dBi
Reduced Tx power to 7 dBm
Still 40ms average on direct sight 3m between new Macbook Pro and router
And what I don’t understand — instability, from 0ms to 100ms and back
BY wifi scan, see i a accesspoint with 29 dB.
Is that the accesspoint that you connect?
If not, try another channel far away from this channel
plisken, yep, that’s my AP
The signal is still to strong if it -29 dB the signal disturb itselfs because signal reflexion.
Test with more reduce the power example antenna gain -15 and try than if the pings becomes better.
antenna gain = 15
(not -15, I believe it was a mistake)
changed channel = 2

(because another network appeared)
86 packets transmitted, 85 packets received, 1.2% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0.608/18.253/221.683/35.245 ms
What my ping should become? I expect ~0% loss and 5ms average. Maybe my expectations are too high?
What RSSI should I have, so its not too strong?
I’m still what confused by the anesthesia of yesterday.
I underwent a surgical procedure.
Write errors can happen = 15 ![]()
The best signal is around-60 dB
Ping time between 0 and 5 are not demanding.
Normal is that attainable
What use you as bandwidth 20 MHz, 10 MHz…
Still important select “indoors” by “advanced settings”

92 packets transmitted, 92 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0.699/35.322/103.737/33.022 ms
Distance = indoors
(but actually its not true, router is located outdoor, my laptop is facing window and I can see router, which is outdoors under roof)
bandwidth = 20/40MHz HT Above
Tx Power mode = card rates
Tx Power = 7 dBm (friend told me to use that setting too)
What else should I do, to get minimal ping?
Hey Dandaka, you can try with change the setting indoors to 1
Just as test en see what happend.
Think that the signal must go to the roof that affected also ping time
I don’t have “indoors” setting
I have setting “distance”, which I set to “indoors”
http://take.ms/rLHeG
No not indoors but 1
distance = 1 made it worse ![]()
Ok thats was a test, set it in like before.
