I have a strange problem here. I have Mikrotik system repeater Version 2.9.10 with two wlans: one configured as as AP for clients and the other as AP for backbone to the node (base). Normally I have atleast 6 clients connected to the AP.
Strangely this morning I just saw that none of my clients are being registered in Registration Table. I administer this repeater remotely and I access it through the interface backbone AP. Checking the settings on the repeater, they seem to be unchanged and part of the log file shows the following detail:
upgrade the system to either 2.9.12, or 2.9.28 (or use a newer build at your own risk, I’m not sold on their stability yet) and try again, after the upgrade, make sure you also give the system routerboard upgrade command to update the bios, and then reboot…
I haven’t used 2.9.32 yet… I’ve seen a few posts regarding people having some serious issues with PPPoE, and I think a few OSPF issues (could be remembering wrong on the OSPF), those are both things that we rely on, and therefore I’m not upgrading to them. some of my core systems are still running 2.9.12 (it’s a very stable build, with over 240 days of uptime one one of them, and a few more with over a hundred days of uptime ) I’ve had memory leak issues with nearly every build after 2.9.12… I’m actually considering downgrading all of my AP’s to 2.9.12 as I’m having one a day lockup from memory leaks.
By the way, it seems like I only know how to upgrade, does the downgrade work in the similar way? I know it is something I can read about, but I hope you can give quick tip.
since two days i got like your post in my unwire systems, but now is OKAY…for this solution you must check phisical that wlan interfaces, check for RX and TX signal. from winbox is better.
this my report and cronology:
from console i don’t find good report. cause normally everything i do remote router by telnet. i saw from status monitor we don’t have TX signal strenge. from this methode than we have point to make fixed. again…now is good condition, RX-TX signal, ack-timout, link quality, noise-floor, and work…work…work..
I simply reconfigured new Mikrotik and mounted it. The problem ceased. Clients are connecting to it without problem.
However, I still have the problem with old one. Reconfiguring the other one does not solve problem of the prevoius equipment.
Let me add something to my earlier discription of the setup. I am using (RB/OM19) MikroTik 2.4GHz Integrated Access Point + Backbone with embedded high-gain (19 dBi) directional antenna plus 7.4 dBi omnidirectional antenna. I am using 19dBi Patch antenna as my backbone to my base(ISP) and 7.4 dBi as AP for clients.
What I have realised is that whereever I have imployed this setup, after few months I start having problems with omni side. Setting up the patch as accesspoint I don’t have the problem I get with omni side.
The log message I get for clients facing problems is repeatedly as follows:
Hi I have problems too. So I use RB 112, which has 1 SR2 and one R52 cards. R52(5Ghz) is working as station P2P, and the SR2(2.4 Ghz G Turbo) is working as AP. RB is working well, but suddenly AP loses all associations and in 2 minutes it starts running normaly.
I don’t see any log such “Extencive Data Lose” , But I am having a lot of problems with it. My users connect to the internet via PPTP. And when the links are down, the PPTP Router disconnects them “peer is not responding”.
Please help what can I do I have upgraded RB 112 to 2.9.39 version and the bios version is current-firmware: “2.6”

I have the same problem often… i tried many things… but no result… i get also “extensive data loss”… where may be the problem? I tried AP Client mode and WDS mode… same…the Mikrotik is v2.9.6 and 2.9.27
Also tried to change the channel… and now i am on free channel but the problem still exist…
I have solved most of problems related to clients losing associations through using high gain antennas.
Here are some of factors to consider:
1] Client position: How far is the client from AP ie distance; and at what angle horizontally and vertically the client is (relative to the AP).
–>Documenation is helpful to check the angle of the transmitted beam from the AP. Being below or outside the beam you compromise link quality
2]Antenna Gain; In the high interference zone or where client is very far from AP, client is forced to receive weak signal which results into excessive data loss. I am not recommending amlifiers here - I don’t like them!!
