We want to install a wireless infrastructure over a building with about 10 CAPs und up to 200 Wifi Clients.
We want to have local forwarding disabled, the obvious firewall rules on the CAPsMAn and a Quality of Service (PCQ for about 80Mbit/sec for all Clients) with the Mangle rules we need for this. The CAPsMAN will also be a DHCP Server.
Is there a suggestion for a Hardware Router that can handle this traffic and the QOS?
The RB1100AHx4 seems a little to mouch to me. Maybe I forgot to mention, that the Wifi installation in only for Internet Access for the clients. And to share the 80 mbit internet connection equally with a pcq queue.
2011 won’t be nearly enough for this, at least not with QOS. You might get away with the 2011 if you can live without QOS; because you can fast-track most of the internet traffic.
I second RB1100x4 as previously suggested , or you could maybe use RB3011.
What’s wrong with RB750Gr3, I use it with 7 Wap Ac, we have 150mbit line, and few queue tree rules, one simple queue for guest network, and up to 70 clients, works fine.
Note I use local forwarding, not sure if it would work so good with capsman forwarding, u may need use higher cpu power product than.
Local Forwarding isn’t an option, so we need some model with higher CPU. Also Fast-Track can’t be used, because we need some firewall rules to hide the rest of our network from the CAPs Clients.
I think we will go with RB1100x4 or maybe we will try the RB3011.
I had only but issues with capsman forwarding, perfomance was very bad without CPU going even over 50%, and i had all this network traffic like printers, and network shares going thru router, hitting queues etc, at the end i used local forwarding and only capsman forwarding for guest network.
think also about future upgrade of your internet line or expanding your installation with more caps.
i vote also for RB1100x4. the machine is a litle beast.
