Suggestion - Add Prolific USB driver for serial support

Hello,

It would be most excellent to have the ability to plug serial devices into 2.9 using USB. Almost all of these USB rs232 serial devices (gps, ups, modems, etc) all use the prolific 2303 chipset. It is a simple serial to usb converter. I have GPS units that are USB and they no longer sell converter cables, UPS units are now USB, modems are all going to USB, etc. They are standard RS-232C but on top of usb now.

Here is a link to their linux driver, can this please be added to future versions of MT?

Thanks,

Here is the output when connected:

[admin@mikroHome] system resource> usb print

DEVICE VENDOR NAME SPEED

0 1:1 USB UHCI Root Hub 12 Mbps
1 1:2 Prolific Technology ... USB-Serial Controller 12 Mbps

I'd like to just be able to use that usb-serial under /ports

Thanks,
Sam
