Suggestion : Alert according to the ping response time

Hello,

First of all, thanks for this great software.

I would like to have the possibility to be alerted when the response time of a device is between two values or when it is superior than a limit.

With The Dude, I know when my server is down. But I don’t know when the response time is slow, very slow…

This functionality would be interesting because we could study the various causes of this deceleration.

Thanks !

Best regards.

Same here - in fact, I’d like to test the TTL (we aren’t allowed to probe any windows services and checking for TTL=128 would give us an idea if a group of workstations are up and the OS running).

Actually… rather than having code changes all the time, would it be possible to perhaps run an external file with a parameter (the IP address) and have a errorlevel returned? (In this case I’ve been playing with some other simpler monitors, one of which supports this. I’ve created a simple batch file which pings and then greps the result. Grep returns the errorlevel.)

Good idea. This would be a good feature. It would also be good to be able to measure the speed of a link, and alarm when it is slow. Perhaps integrate bandwidth tester into Dude?
