Suggestion for RB750G replacement

We have some RB750G in more than 50 locations which physical access to them is hard and sometimes impossible .
But after a while (average 6 months) those router have hardware issues (burned or completely failed) and it is very hard to replace them .

So we want to replace them with a more stable and production ready designed routerboard models .

Our needs.

  • Very long time turned on without need to physically power off it for example 3 years .
  • 24~48v power (Optional we already have converters)
  • Strong against high temperature (sometimes coolers fails and it takes more than 48 hours to fix them)
  • at least 3 ethernets
  • Not expensive

I’ve had good luck with the 493AH and 2011 routers. They are not in extream heat tough. If your having heat issues then get some vents and fans. I run 24v fans and use a remote power switch to control power. If you need power control you may want to checkout PacketFlux or DigitalLoggers. I have not used the 750 at all so I am not sure how these compair. UBNT also has a new line of routers but I am sticking with a Tik!

Thanks for reply . you mentioned about temperature which i forgotten and it is one of main problems . i edited the first post .

We install venting. Even so when the ambient temperature is high we have found that the CPU fans of the 1100 series routers is a huge help. I have added fans to some of my RB1200’s to reduce heat. The small chassis of the 400 series and 2011 may pose an issue for adding fans. They will run above the max temperature that MikroTik lists but it is pushing the limits and will shorten the life of the router. I would suggest a fan inside the chassis of the router when your ambient temperature is regularly above 100ºF ( ~38ºC ) or so. I believe that most of these routers are not supposed to go over 140ºF ( 60ºC ) for the CPU temp and your CPU temp will probably be 20ºF or 30ºF warmer then the ambient temp.

After insuring that our outdoor enclosures all had ventilation and any warmer environments have routers with internal fans we have not had lockups nor have we had hardware go bad.
