Suitability: hEX or RB-3011?

Hi everyone

I’d like to understand the benefits of purchasing an RB-3011 over an RB-HEXPOE, in terms of routing performance and general data throughput for the following.

Requirements / Scenario:

  • Already in use: internet using a 10Mbps fibre line.
  • Planned: LTE failover (via the USB port)
  • Local business users: 50 (cabled and Wi-Fi) on 1Gbps LAN, separate switch
  • LAN File Server (FreeNAS using CIFS) requiring 1Gbps, fast LAN speeds
  • Separate router for VPN to external CRM provider
  • Internet cafe (Ubiquiti AP for Wi-Fi)

I plan on creating 4 VLANs:

2x DMZs, one for internal systems (file server), one for 3rd part systems (CRM)
2x LANs, one for the business and one for the Internet Cafe

I’d like to configure QoS for email/web/VPN/business/internet cafe etc.

Internet
`-- Fibre line
     `-- RouterBourd hEX/RB-3011
         |-- LTE (USB) Failover
         |-- DMZ_1
         | `-- File Server
         |-- DMZ_2
         | `-- Router for CRM VPN
         |-- LAN_1
         | `-- 1Gbps Switch
         | `-- Ubiquiti AP
         `-- LAN_2
              `-- Ubiquiti AP

Given the performance test results on the following documents, it would seem obvious that the RB-3011 would be better suited to the job. Is this assumption justified, given the above?

I’m not a low-level networking expert, so seek some guidance in terms of the better solution, given the requirements.

My client is concerned about their expenditure, but they would trust my recommendation to spend more, if justifiable.

RB750Gr3 version of hEX bit faster, but RB3011 still had edge here.
