Super Netting Discovery Mapping Question

Hi our company recently changed our network infrastructure from three separate network legs running on a 255.255.255.0 subnet to a super netted configuration by changing the subnet to 255.255.252.0. We also created 2 vlans to run a converged phone/data which each 3com switch is trunked together. Prior to the change we were able to scan each leg (IP range) and it would auto draw the map with devices connected to switches and switches connected and so on. After making all the changes, our network map is now one big blob of unknown devices that all link back to a cloud icon depicting the IP Range 192.168.148.0:24 address of the scan. Is there anyway other than manually drawing it by hand to have it go devices connecting to switches and so on?

Hi,

I am having the same issue. All my devices are going to a network cloud as opposed to the switch they are connected to..

We you able to solve this issue? Thanks

I have not used autodiscovery, apart from trying it when I first started using The Dude 5 or 6 years ago. The results that I got with autodiscovery was exactly as described here - everything connected to one IP network cloud. I have always added individual devices and then manually set up links between each device. I think this is a better method anyway as you can be certain that the links are connecting things as they really are, rather than a “best guess” by some unknown algorithm.
