There is not standing very much information about the Super Range 5 cards on the mikrotik homepage, so I ask here.
These cards are only for the 5.8 GHz or is it also possible according to their chip set to use them in 2,4 and 5 Ghz area? Is it also possible to use them with the nstreme protocol? Thanks for your help!
SR5 is new. I dont think there has been enough light shed on its performance yet. I am looking for somebody to post their results. And to answer the question, I think SR5 is 5.7 to 5.8 GHz range only. SR2 is for 2.4GHz band.
On the hompage of the chipset producer is written that the chipset AR5213 of Super Range 5 supports 2,4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.(http://www.atheros.com/pt/AR5004XBulletin.htm) On the hompage of Ubint.net they are only speaking about 5.8 Ghz. I am asking because the 100 mW cards for the 5 Ghz area is not available any more and I think the 65 mW are not enough for my needs.
Has anyone run 4 x Super Range 5 cards on a Four-Slot miniPCI Adapter?
From what I can work out, the Adaptor has a 1 amp (2.5 Watts) regulator on it and the SR5 cards can draw 1.3 amp (4.3 Watts) give or take a mA or mW or two.
You are probably not going to find any, as the power output of the SR series cards is advertised way too high to be allowed to be used by consumers. The FCC only allows the high-powered device to be licensed if it built to be used exclusively in commercial wireless equipment, and specifically not for consumer applications. Releasing a Windows driver would likely get the device’s license pulled. You should be able to force Windows to use the generic AR5004x driver set, though…
