So I just bought 2x cAP ac along with 1xhEX PoE.
The APs are connected by wire to the router and powered over PoE.
And the router is connected to WAN internet.
I want to setup my APs so that they give me ONE wireless network (ie ONE ssid) that covers both 2GHZ and 5GHZ band, as I have some devices that does not support 5Ghz.
(The default setting is giving me 4x wireless netoworks (2x 2ghz + 2x 5ghz) with different ssid)
How can I make this possible?
I have googled alot and not been able to find my question.
My goal is not to use ONE mac for all 4, rather ONE ssid (network name), so that devices can connect seamless.
Why can I just use ONE ssid on all the 4 networks, but them being separated by bands and channels?
You can use the same SSID for all 4 without the minimal problem…
EXCEPT: must have same security configuration (same wpa2-psk only, aes-ccm only and wpa2 password)!!!
One issue now only. If I set the AP “Home Ap Dual”- mode in QuickSet, I get the SSID config as I want it.
But I cant access the internet.
But if I set the mode to “Wisp AP” and active the “bridge” option, I get the internet to work. But I lose the 2.4ghz band network option, and only the 5ghz band is presented.
How can I make the internet work and still have 2 bands
Not a quickset option (I think ?) but CAPSMAN on Hex seems to be the best choice for your requirements.
1 SSID, 2 bands on each AP, 1 central point for management/security/…
