Hello. I want to use Mikrotik RB1100 AHx2 router for a network and there will be most probably around 400-500 users online
at same time. Can you please tell me if this router can support these users?
Each user is limited to 512Kbps bandwidth each and they use mostly Skype, browsing, chating and downloading.
Please advise.

If all you’re doing is packet filtering sure.
If you’re doing a lot of QoS etc, I’m not sure.
Without QoS, I can get around 250Mb/s out of a RB450G.
But lots of L7 packet inspection, tagging lots of frames etc can consume a lot of CPU.
Same with lots of IPSec or OpenVPN traffic.
I’d guess without a huge amount of QoS and even a 100Mb/s unpstream pipe, an X2 should handle it well. [Can’t see why I’d buy an 1100 when the x2 is only $100 more.]
But I don’t have any specific exp on that hardware - so you’re getting my best guess. The only way to be sure is to test it in a similar environment.
