New to mikrotik product. I have a used CRS 317 which ip or subnet is unknown. Tried to reset to factory or use winbox to access by mac do not work.
winbox/netinstall do not detect the switch either. using wireshark, it detected the switch as source ip 0.0.0.0 on the boot/eth mac address. This shows that it is not in the same subnet as the pc (192.168.88.3) directly connected to.
Does both winbox and netinstall requires the pc to be in the same subnet as the switch? Are there other ways to reset? is using console cable easier?
PC is running windows with firewall and antivirus disabled. Tried reset multiple times using instructions in the manual. Hold reset, plug in, wait light steady, light flashing, light off. release button when light goes off.
When attempting to netinstall the device it’s recommended that you disconnect any network cards except the one you are using to netinstall the device.
You can factory reset the device by holding the reset button until user or power light starts to blink. Blinking is factory reset, steady light is CAP mode and no light is netinstall.
You connect your device to the PC using ethernet cable and you must connect device to the correct port, so its usually ether1 and also it can be labelled “boot”
PC has only 1 network card. From wireshark, I see the Mac addr of the eth/boot port the PC was connected to.
Tried reset by releasing button after light flashed 3 times.
Tried reset by releasing button after light goes off.
Also tried to hold reset button for extended time after light goes off. Seeing the light flashing cycle.
