Switch with high switch capacity any suggestions? MikroTik is good in switches?

Hi,

I’m using RB3011UiAS-RM + TP-Link switch (unmanageable) it has 48Gbps switch capacity. I want to replace it on any manageable switch till 300$, I was thinking about Cisco SG200-26 or something from MikroTik like for example CRS125-24G-1S-IN or CRS326-24G-2S+RM or CSS326-24G-2S+RM but I’m confused after reading this forum. Some people say that if it goes for switches better to take something from Cisco, Netgear or HP (it was topic about layer 3 switches). I can’t find any good review’s or experience examples of MikroTik switches by people on this forum. My question is are MikroTik switches good? I’m not asking about some fancy ISP features but the most common in switches generally, VLAN’s, Link aggregation, QoS etc and the most important for me switch capacity is it high? 52-56Gbps? Are all of them fanless or those with fan’s they are quiet?

Now the most important information what I want to use it for, it will be connected to RB3011UiAS-RM and all computers from one network plus server with 4 Gbit ports (in this case I can make link aggregation on server it self) and NAS with 2 ports. In future maybe I will need another switch so both need to be connected best option would be 10Gbps (SFP).

P.S.
RB3011UiAS-RM just rock’s in my opinion that’s why I’m also thinking about switch from MikroTik but is it good option?

I like MikroTik products (and the RouterOS software) so I use their switches as well. I don’t do anything fancy, however. The only one to consider for you would be the CRS326-24G-2S+RM. If you like working with MikroTik software, then you’ll like it. Other brands offer an easier to configure interface for switching, VLANs, etc. It’s all about if you like RouterOS or not.

Do I like ROS? Damm I fought I wrote clearly I Love it  I had first contact with RB2011 and later on with RB3011 and I was impressed with hardware and software that’s why I’m asking how is with the switches from MikroTik. To be honest I already ordered exactly the one you recommend  But from what I see there is SwOS anyway on friday I will start play with it.

—edit—
sorry my mistake it have two OS…anyway I was reading that those are switches so can’t make it Router from it so wonder why it’s Router OS there also? More features/option in “Switch” configuration than in for example RB3011 ROS?

I don’t know why, except that maybe MikroTik will be phasing out swOS or consider it a non-premium option? I don’t know. MikroTik’s “switch” products are not very fast at “routing” because the CPU’s are not as powerful. Their switch hardware (my understanding) uses custom chips to “switch” things. Their router offerings (routing happens in the CPU) therefore are made more robust for that task.

I know what you’re thinking … why not have both in one box? Maybe they should. Maybe it would be expensive.

Wanting to point out that the CRS326 does not yet have the same advanced Switch menu that CRS125 has. This will be changed when 6.41 ships.
