Switching question I think????

I have setup a 450g with eth1 as a DHCP WAN client, eth2 as PPPoE server giving out 192.168.1.0 addresses on authentication. I followed a PPPoE setup guide to do this. I have connected a computer to eth3 with a static of 192.168.1.250. The port shows that a connection is there but I can not get to this system via ping or any other way I try.

I want to be able to get to this computer from a connection via PPPoE. I have only setup DHCP for the PPPoE client, assuming that all ports switched would allow me to put a static onto the network. Where am I wrong? Do I need to bridge, VLAN the statics?

Any help in the right direction is appreciated.

Thanks, Troy

have you set arp=proxy-arp on eth3?

I switched to proxy-arp on eth3, but still having same result.

I set eth3 arp as suggested with no luck. When I use the router ping to normal pings are timed out but the arp pings work.

Thanks for any help.
