can the CRS125-24G-1S-IN do both switching and routing on ths same physical port? Example: port 1 recieves a vlan packet and has to switch the traffic to port 8 and maybe has to add an outer tag. As well the same port recieves a IP packet that is destined off net and is routed out port 8?
It should be possible to do software bridging and routing on the same physical port with different VLANs. For hardware switching, it would certainly be trickier, I don’t know if it is possible currently.
To do it with software bridging, instead of setting a master port, simply bridge the same VLAN from one port to the other, then assign an IP to a different VLAN on the port to route that VLAN. It should work, though I have not tried it.
Software bridging uses the CPU and it is not powerful in the CRS models, so don’t expect enormous throughput through such a configuration. This task may be easier with hardware with the upcoming rc41 bridge implementation.
