Just bought my first Mikrotik switches to learn VLANs and mirroring. I have 2 radios that talk to each other through IP so I need to mirror one port (I think) to a PC running wireshark so I can see what the traffic looks like.
I see the forwarding tab in the browser but I wanted to be sure I got this right.
The PC is on port 21, I think I need port 23 ingress and egress checked and port 21 mirror to checked.
Should I leave the storm rate at 100%? I hate to do that, I just washed my car…
Which switch model? Different SwOS switches have different places to configure mirroring.
Here is how I set up my CSS106-5G-1S for a wireshark tap.
CSS326-24G is my main one, also got an RB260GS to test a fiber connection between the 2.
I noticed the screens are different.
I don't have a CSS326-24G switch, but the manual has this Forwarding and you should be able to select mirror to on the port connected to your wireshark device and then you can monitor another port's ingress and egress traffic and it should be copied to the mirror port.
