SwOS version 1.3 released!

What’s new in 1.3:

*) added ability to specify ethernet ports from
which it is allowed to connect to the switch;
*) fixed problem - reboot sometimes made switch unresponsive;
*) fixed problem - Hosts table were not shown sometimes;
*) fixed problem - sometimes it didn’t respond to ARP requests
or responded with big packets;
*) fixed problem - remote web interface didn’t work well over VLANs;

Nice but remote upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3 is impossible because switch need power cycle :frowning:

EDIT

I have another issue. After upgrade i can’t manage switch, when i click some tab i.eg. system switch stops respond to ping and disconnect link (my PC says “cable unpluged”). Now my switch is useless because i cant do downgrade so im afraid to check another switch.
I turned off autonegotiation on my card but it doesnt work.

another EDIT

After few disconnects i made downgrade to 1.2 and switch is working.

I have 1.3 upgrade issue today:

  1. I upgrade the 1.3 firmware from web interface, it take a long time and the status keep staying in “upgradeing..don’t interrupt” …
  2. After for a while, I found it’s still in 1.2
  3. I unplugged the power for 10 seconds and re-plugin the power line.
  4. After the power reset, the switch is functioning but I CAN’T login to it anymore
  5. The original IP is not responsive and I try the original one 192.168.88.1 doesn’t work either

My question now is: how can I reset it to factory status ? I poke the RESET hole and is useless at all.

Thanks!

Update:

  1. The ACT light is quickly flashing even no device is connected to the switch …

I had that problem too, i have to press reset and hold, then power switch off still holding reset, then power on and release reset after few seconds.
Its something new because in fw 1.0 and 1.2 reset button worked normally.

Try another method: power off switch, press reset and then power on (slightly diffrent than previously).

Both reset-button and reset-hole are intended to work at the moment when board is being powered up. It works the same way with all Routerboards.

Ok but maybe somethings wrong with SwOS. Simple reset (even hold 1 min) doesnt work.

One more thing, I tested 1.3 on another switch and I have that same problem than before.

What is status of ACL LED? It should start blinking few seconds after power up, if reset button is pressed. Configuration will be reset if you release reset at this point. Otherwise (after 10 seconds of ACT blinking) it will start to blink twice as frequent and switch will try to boot using BOOTP. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/SwOS#Reinstall_SwOS_firmware

I followed the step to use TFTP to reinstall swOS to my RB250GS, I got a lot of error message like the file attached..
tftp error.png

Make sure you allow this file to be downloadable in TFTP configuration.

I have allow=yes on the TFTP configuration, just like the wiki page example…

Please post your TFTP and DHCP-server configuration if possible.

kirshteins - I bought 3 new switches (i think is newer series than before because it has diffrent ac adaptor).
I upgraded to 1.3 and … that same trouble. I managed that when I “click” some tab switch is doing reboot.
1.3 really sucks :confused:

On changelog says,

*) fixed problem - remote web interface didn’t work well over VLANs;

But if I want conect to web interface from trunk port isn’t posible, is this a bug? or simply sw205G do not do this.

thanks in advance

ARIEL

I confirmed that RB250gs will reboot itself when random tab is selected(clicked)… :open_mouth:

Why is this release still published??? It’s a complete disaster!

Pull it off and do it right please!

I click on tabs in 1.3 and they work just fine, the switch does not reboot itself.

Although I must say my VLAN trunk scenario is taking way too long to implement at first. One would dream configurations would get easier with new products. Good thing I am a stubborn donkey with a few hours to bash my head.
