SXT 5Hnd and POE from HP switch

Hello!

My company wanted connecting new workshop to our office and we buy WIFI bridge MikroTik RouterBoard SXT 5HnD (300mbps transfer rate at 5Ggz). And for powering “slave” SXT (on workshop) we buy HP ProCurve E4210-24G-POE switch (Master switch) + APC 750VA for reserved power.

But SXT don’t want to receive power from HP, only work with it’s POE adapter (max 100mbps). If i connect SXT to switch, SXT dont power on, but another switch (HP V1805-8G with power via POE) connected to 4210 works without any configuration. I don’t found any configs on SXT to enable POE support, and 4210 “from box” try to add POE to any ports.

I check all configs, SXT can connect on ethernet at max 1Gbps, but POE adapter not support this speed. Yesterday we install WIFI bridge, and wifi speed is 250-300mbps via WDS. And we want use all this speed, because we send many files between workshop and office.

Google don’t help me, how use HP POE to power on SXT.

P.S.: SXT version 5.3

Hi

the sxt doesnt support 802.11af. You have to use this one between the poe switch and the sxt.

The SXT 5HnD has no GBit Interface, for GBit use SXT G-5HnD.

there are different passive poe injectors - there is one that is only for Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) and another for Gbit interfaces.

Also, as it was pointed out there are devices available that will convert 802.3af to 24V required by SXT. In case you want to use Gbit, device from routerboard.com page will not fit you due to it being Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) device.

However there are similar devices from other venderos, maybe someone offers Gbit version.
