Hi, new here.
Just discovered your products today.
This may be a dumb question that follows, but I have searched here, and the closest answers are several years old, and may not be relevant anymore.
I have a laptop running W7 64, and a USB controlled device which is a small RF signal generator.
(A Windfreak SynthNV if you’re curious)
Normally this would simply plug into a USB port on the laptop for both control and power.
However the SynthNV also has a separate DC power socket for power.
What I would like to do:
Operate this USB controlled generator remotely, say, 100-200m away.
I purchased some USB - Ethernet extenders off eBay.
Cheap Chinese crap that doesn’t work as advertised (100m)
I’d prefer not to have wires in between anyway.
Can a USB device (such as described above) be plugged into the USB port on something line an SXT 5HPnD and will the PC at the other end see it as the virtual comm port it would otherwise be plugged into?
The few answers I found (circa 2009-2010) said the USB ports on the products then could only be used for 3G modems and some hard drives.
It also mentioned having to disable the console.
The product brochures are useless when it comes to explaining the USB functionality, so any help appreciated.
