I have bought two of SXT G-5HnD. One of them works perferctly, I can connect, and set everything. The other one has a “problem”. When it boots I only get series of short fast beeps. I haven’t noticed that at the first one. I was assuming, that booting crashed, so I tried reset button. It didn’t help.
Not even 10s, not even 15s+. I assume that it was opened before I got it, or the memory is dead. I tried netinstall, it doesen’t see the device…
Series of short-fast beeps (trrrr) means that device was expecting Flashfig. It is not a problem, but a feature. If you ignore that, it will boot as usual.
It didn’t boot. I was pressing that button for hours, and trying to do netinstall… I figured out it than. I pressed reset button for 20 secs… And after that I got a beep. Just one. Than I runned netinstall and I got my SXT visible in netinstall. If I had netinstall runned before, I couldn see the device.
And than I flashed, and it worked. So if anyone have a problem, try like I did
Sorry about that. For others - Here is a quote from the quick guide:
Buttons and Jumpers
• RouterOS reset jumper hole (access through the plastic door) – resets RouterOS software to de- faults. Must short circuit the metallic sides of the hole (with a screwdriver, for example) and boot the device. Hold screwdriver in place until RouterOS configuration is cleared.
• RouterBOOT reset button (access through the plastic door) has two functions:
Hold this button during boot time until LED light starts flashing,
release the button to reset RouterOS configuration (same result as with reset hole) - Hold this button during boot time longer, until LED turns off,
and then release it to make the device look for Netinstall servers.
I kept button pressed even after LED turned off for about 5 or 6 seconds more. After that I got short beep. If I only waited that it turned off, device never showed in “netinstall”.
