SXT Lite5 - unable to netinstall

Hello all,

I am a new IT enthousiast and student helping a friend fix his some Mikrotik devices.
he had a couple of sxt lite 5 that were not operational and i was able to revive them using netinstall and installing a fresh OS.

the steps taken for taking netInstall are the below :
i have done a configuration reset using a screw driver.
and performent a netinstall boot afterwards.

For that particular machine, whenever i try to net install it seems like ethernet connectivity is not always up , and the port on my laptop tun up and down.
the routerboard ends up beeping several beeps (same beep sequence as of the configuration reset)

when the board boots there is no connectivity through lan what so ever , the lan port on my laptop is down.

If you could please assist regarding my issue.

Netinstall does not fix hardware problems… so if your SXT has a hardware damage how do you expect to netinstall it ?

thank you for your reply.
all 3 devices had similar symptoms, they do turn on but they would not appear under winbox , and did not have any signs of life when plugging them into my laptop.
Performing a netinstall fixed the issue for 2 of the machines, but the third fails to show up when i try to perform the installation.

i suspect that these devices had corrupt software and therefore are unable to boot properly, which explains why the ethernet port is down when the OS boots and explains why the devices worked again when i performed a new OS installation.

The SXT might have protected bootloader enabled, so the behavior of the reset button changes.
You can also try and connect a switch between your PC and the SXT and then try to netinstall again…
Also be sure all other network interfaces on your PC are disabled, firewall disabled, antivirus disabled…

In case nothing works most probably there is a hardware problem…
