SXT comes with a level3 license. For PtMp u need level 4 license.
Get an AP. I would suggest a RB433AH with R52Hn and dual pol 5ghz sector antennas.
Use SXT as client CPE only.
yes, mahnet says is right, before you buy a routerboard, please see level first! and see the manual level.
level 3 license can only p2p link, level 4 license or above is p2mp.
thanks guys, i am just upgrading the license.
thanks
rather than upgrading the license for license i would suggest you to go for a AP and sector antenna.
the sxt has very narrow beam hence u may not be able to cover a bigger area even if u upgrade the license.
The beam of the SXT is not very thin.
Thus the coverage area, if choosen wisely might be better (more far away from the AP) than of a 60°, 90°, or 120° sector let alone 360° omni.
All depends on the given cirumstances.
I usually do small PtMP setups with 16dBi to 24dBi dishes, which are working very good.
So I presume that a PtMP setup with the SXT as AP - if done correctly - can work better than the OmniTik or a sector-antenna driven system.
dishes for ptmp or sxt can be good for 2-3 clients who actually fall along the same line as the beam pattern of sxt or dish.
The AP and sector is a more sorted approach
also, upgrading the license of SXT costs 45$. It might be cheaper to simply purchase a different kind of routerboard.
Normis, it’s not always the money you pay directly, which is important.
You also need to calculate the efforts needed to assemble a routerboard + outdoor case + sector antenna.
Or in the worst case to exchange an SXT by such a setup.
Upgrading a license from L3 to L4 is much easier and more effective then climbing up a tower and exchanging hardware!
of course you can do this, I just wanted to clarify your options ![]()
Mikrotik with l3 licence work great as AP for more than 15 clients, no need to upgrade licence level ![]()
and u create a virtual AP for each link??
How?
A little old thread, but the problem still exists.
How you manage to connect 15 clients to l3 license device?
SXTsq2 is good hardware for some PTMP setups, but L3 criples it badly
And the price of L4 license costs more than the SXTsq2 itself…
This is not an license L3 appliance.
The price is higher than twice in comparison with SXTsq 2 Lite.
I already have the SXTsq 2 lite.
The L4 license costs more than the SXTsq 2 lite ![]()
And i will put it in the box until find it a proper use someday.
Until then will stop buying any Tiks for now. This license limitation is absolute mockery.
