SXT PtP with routing / masquerading

Hi all,

Just curious, I’ve got a few SXT’s for a private network. They are in NV2 mode doing a PTP tunnel. I was curious if it was possible to moving the routing functionality away from the CRS behind the two SXT’s over to the SXT that is connected directly to the provider’s modem. This way I would be able to work on the 2 SXT’s without having to disconnect from the WAN and then have to drive up and reset the cable modem. I tried it the other night but was unsuccessful.

Is this possible (and if so, whats the correct method) or should I just put an RB750Gr3 between the provider and the first SXT?

Thanks,
Ken

If I understand it correctly, you have CRS as router, but instead of being connected directly to modem, it’s connected using “extension” made by SXTs, right? If so, I don’t see any problem, SXT has same RouterOS as CRS. If they are now configured as bridges, then on first one remove bridge, use ethernet as WAN interface, wlan as LAN interface, and use config from CRS. Then demote CRS to simple switch and you should have what you want.
