SXT Transparent Bridge + Multicast

Hi Forum,

I have 2 SXT’s, 5nd r2’s. Obviously one is station the other ap bridge.

I have set up a bridge interface and added both the wlan and ether1 interfaces to it, to create a bridged link on either end. Essentially trying to emulate a big ethernet link.

2 devices that use Multicast on either end cant seem to talk to each other.

If I do a similar setup but on a single 951-2n, both ports going through CPU and member of a bridge interface (so not using switch chip) the multicast works, but through the SXT’s it doesn’t appear to be. I can see the traffic hitting in and trying to send out (about 4-5mbit) but not getting anything back.

Is there a trick to getting multicast working between the Ether->wlan bridging on an SXT? Would I need to use some form of IGMP Proxy or other multicast routing?

The multicast package is installed on both, both running 6.17 currently.

Thanks,
Joe

Post both export on the forum, and the Multicast package is noot needed if you want do only l2 bridge between points

Hi rextended,

I haven’t used transparent bridging much - so I wasn’t up to speed on the different station modes. After setting AP to ‘bridge’ and client to ‘station-bridge’ I now have success getting multicast packets through! My own fault for not reading more.

Thanks for the response anyways but got this one sorted

Thanks.

What route will be accepted from ISPs i.e. default, partial,or full route. please let me know also the configuration of IP route , distance & routing mark in mikrotik???
