SXTLTE6 Kit POE powering question...

Hi all,

I’m keen to know if anyone has tried using a SXTLTE6 KIT in tandem with a hAP AX2 using poe from the hAP to the SXT?

Looking at the specs, they indicate the total power of the SXT is 22W and the total output poe of the hAP AX2 is 16.8W. So the hAP AX2 doesn’t have enough grunt to power the SXT.

However, there is a spec on the SXT which suggests it might work: “Max power consumption without attachments = 5W”.

So, what does “Max power consumption without attachments” mean? Could it mean that the SXT will work in passthrough mode, therefore bypassing any DHCP, firewall, etc… settings?
If so, this would be how I use an SXT anyway, but having only one cat6 cable without poe adaptors would be a huge bonus.

Hope someone can help. Cheers.

Product page of SXT LTE6 kit does indicate that unit is capable of PoE daisy-chaining with max PoE out up to 19W (0.4A PoE-out limit when powered with 30V+ PoE-in … when powered with 48V calculation yields those 19W). It’s explicitly stating “max power consumption 21W, max power consumption without attachments 7W” … which I read as “device consumes up to 7W and is capable of forwarding additional 14W via PoE-out”. And those 14W for PoE out might be consequence of 0.6A current limit coupled with 24V power adapter shipped as standard … I’m pretty sure that “attachments” in powering talk is only about PoE and has nothing to do with what functions device performs, so nothing about DHCP, firewall, etc.

So if my interpretation is correct, hAP ax2 should be able to power SXT LTE6 kit when there are no further PoE devices connected to SXT.
