Sxtsq5ac wifi-qcom-ac superchannel error

please help or advise. i successfully installed ros 7.20 with wifi-qcom-ac package on a sxtsq5ac. i tried 7.18 too, but i get same problem - i can select ANY country, except superchannel. i get error “cannot set country”.

if i select any other country, it works OK and i get far better speeds (around 500-515 mbit on average) via wifi, but power is limited usually to 14dBm. which is too low.

is there a specific version of ros that has a working superchannel on qcom-ac package?

on a more recent device (ax), i can select superchannel but doesn’t do anything (not a problem for this topic- i gave up on ax).

And what makes you think that device is capable to use superchannel ?

Classic pitfall with ROS: it's not because the setting can be selected, the device is capable to use it.

and what makes you think it can’t?? for the last 15 years every single mikrotik device COULD use superchannel. and OF COURSE this one can too.

With wifi-qcom-ac driver ?
15 years ?

It's even mentioned in wifi documentation ( but who reads that...)

In a controlled environment or if you have a special permission to use it in your region, you can select country=Superchannel (with this country profile, router's Tx output power will not be restricted by the software, and the router will output as much power as its hardware chip allows, unless manual tx-power is configured to lower it). Does not work for wifi-qcom-ac drivers.

Not with these drivers it cant.

Don't assume. Educate yourself.

You screwed up, good, now put the V6 back on.

…or just use wireless package instead of wifi-qcom-ac.
