You can create additional items in the syslog table, each with their own file and matching criteria.
Hi thanks for the answer
Can you tell me how can i do that
I believed that it was under system->logging but indeed as you point out it is possible to select “disk” but not which file.
I normally select an external syslog server and there it is possible to select a diskfile.
Hi
I am posting again in this post because it is very critical i will do that. I have a client with 100 devices and it is very difficult for me read in just in one log.
Thanks
Let me join to this topic with another syslog issue.
On the new Dude (ROS 6.38.1) client i want to display syslog events like I did in dude4 and I failed to do this
because now we have only one log file for all events!
Why not use a separate syslog server? With a good syslog server you can do many things including
writing whatever logfiles you want, splitting into different files for different messages, triggering on
certain critical messages, etc.
If just collecting syslog messages, you are right.
But we have solid monitoring system here, and I used to view it all together: visual maps, event log (syslog) and graphs.
It is was called syslog in Dude, but in fact it was a separate place where were just events about services up/downs. Now it’s gone…
Yeah, not too thrilled about its removal/downgrade. I guess it’s time to move to a stand alone syslogger, but damn it is nice having things in one place.
Even if it cannot be fixed, it would be nice if you could save the syslog logs to disk
