RB750Gs don’t have batteries that keep the clock going like computers do. Implement NTP.
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:System/Time
Google “public ntp servers” or “ntp pool” to get servers you can use.
oh i see.
So then when it turns on it will go to internet and get the time.
Do Rb1100 have?
No.
Well. I’m not 100% sure on that, but I doubt it. RB1000s don’t have batteries, either.
Ok.
So i went to system ntp servers
and i added primary and secondary servers.
But how do i tell it to update the system clock?
cause it said conencted. but the clock is still on old time.
[admin@RB750] > /system ntp client print
enabled: yes
mode: unicast
primary-ntp: 196.35.241.17
secondary-ntp: 196.4.160.4
poll-interval: 4m16s
active-server: 196.4.160.4
last-update-from: 196.4.160.4
last-update-before: 57s940ms
last-adjustment: 2h1s608ms579us

i used for primary ntp server time.windows.com and perhaps u could change mode from unicast to broadcast
Did you set your TimeZone properly?
Set logging rules for ‘ntp, debug, packet’ an observe what’s wrong.
System clock should be updated automatically.
Do not change mode to ‘broadcast’, keep ‘unicast’.
I use these reliable time servers:
primary-ntp: 150.254.183.15
secondary-ntp: 150.254.183.8

my bad, it seems that broadcast only accepts messages from ntp server, while unicast sends request to check time. No matter which mode u use it should work.
but i think broadcast is when the rb sends the time to other devices on the network??
Hi,
RB is NTP client, use ‘broadcast’ mode in case in your network is time server which periodically broadcast time messages. In ‘unicast’ mode RB sends request to time server and receive message.

Hi there,
There is somethign that i have noticed on 4 of my RouterBoards.
I have set them all up as NTP clients and if i go to system/clock it shows the right time.
But if i go look at web proxy cache the times are wrong there?
Why would this be? i find it very odd. and each RB is off by a different time, the one is 2 hours behind, the one is 4 days behind.
I jsut find it very strange.
