system, error, critical router was rebooted without proper shutdown

The well known log message:

system, error, critical router was rebooted without proper shutdown

appears every time one simply turns off the home router without running /system/shutdown before that. I suppose everyone (or at least the majority) who uses SOHO devices never exercises the extra effort to run /system/shutdown but simply powers down.

I am just wondering: Being “critical” - what are the actual consequences? And should one really stick to /system/shutdown every time?

How often do you power off your device?
For me, power interruption is pretty critical.

How often do you power off your device?

Daily (at least).

For me, power interruption is pretty critical.

The log message says the same. Yet, the word “critical” per se does not explain anything. Hence my questions.

Answer from official support:

Q: Is it necessary to run ‘/system/shutdown’ on ATL and hAP ac^3 before each power-off? What could be the consequences if I power off the device directly?

A: No, it’s not necessary. It’s only used for remotely shutting down the device. You can safely unplug the power.
