Taffic problems between mikrotiks

Hello

I have encountered a big problem between mikrotik routers:

We have like 15 mikrotik routers and we have pptp tunnels between their locations and our main site.

I have conducted a series of tests with the bandwidth tool:

If i test between the Wan connections: public ip <--------------------------------> public ip i get a result of 15-20 Mb (a good transfer rate

even when i copy from 1 server to another between the locations)

If i test over the pptp connections: private ip <--------------------------------> private ip i get a result of 1-2 Mb that is 10% of the bandwidth - i checked between all links and the traffice over pptp is really really bad.

Can someone share some light into this? I know that you loose some bandwidth over protocols/encryption and all but not like that…90% less bandwidth.

If someone can give me a clue would be great.

What hardware?

What CPU usage are you seeing?

What kind of firewall rules do you have acting on the VPN link and traffic going through the link?

I have tested between an RB1000 and a RB433UAH.

I don’t have any firewal rules between them, i only have a no nat rule so i don;t nat the traffic over the tunnel i just route it directly.

the rb433uah was at 40-60% the rb1000 was at 100% when rb1000 was sending

and when the RB1000 was receiving the cpu of rb1000 was at 12% tops and the rb433uah was at 100%

Are you using btest from in winbox? Try passing packets through the routers instead of from in winbox.
