Technical quiz

You have a multi site layer 2 service to clients. Although all clients have transport in and between all these multi sites, they are only purchasing X amount of network accessibility bandwidth from you. Client purchases a Gig in this multi site network for there equipment but how would you manage there bandwidth usage globally? They could use a gig between site A and site B and also a gig between site D and E at the same time. There entire usage must be limited to the gig service plan. It’s a transparent service so ppoe is not viable if ever that was a though. Some sort of radius server, a script? Thoughts please?

The only thing I can think of is some kind of scripting that monitors interface utilization to turn up and down speed dynamically.

Alternatively, the ISPs I’ve dealt with that have provided this kind of service have always made me select bandwidth limits for each site so they could be set statically by the service provider for the exact reason you’re encountering. That static assignment could equal 1 gb and be adjusted by a service call into you if needed. I’m guessing the customer has asked that that is not done though and that it magically flexes to 1gb in total on demand.
