Temperature tolerance of RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN

I have RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN WiFi router for home network in a closed. It is not actively ventilated, but it does have grilles on bottom and on top.

Now, the system seems to work fine, but from experience I know there might be some problems if temperatures are consistently high.

The temperature on the router is usually 40/41 ºC - is that OK, or I should mount some kind of slowly spinning USB fan on the device?

Thanks

Those temperatures are very normal. When I was using 2011, mine was constantly around ± 40, except when I did big downloads at 100 Mb/s using wifi the temp will go up to 65.

Thanks. Did you notice any issues re reliability? Drops in WiFi performance or DNS issues, etc.?

No issues, no drops nothing, the 2011 is a little workhorse

Thanks for answers, I appreciate it.

I have also the same like you, but maybe smaller. The 2011 for desktop with full load (the average is about 80%), many IPsec VPNs running, 300 Mbps bandwidth, shared with about 10 apartments, and is inside this with door and closed in the back

Is perfectly… It has two small holes made with a drill in the top, and a 2 inches hole in a side with a small fan and it runs perfectly. The fan only work in summer days when the temperature outside is about 40 degress

Out of curiosity, how did you configure the fan? Is it automatic? Over the router?
What are the internal temperatures of the router itself?
