Hello, wich the best Minipci card that provides 400mw for the routerboard 532
what’s the point using such large tx-power?
all atheros cards show great performance on routerboard
We have many SR2, SR5 cards in service. They’re reliable and live up to claims.
When I lived in Germany, there were 60,000,000 folks who lived there in a country 1/3 the size of Texas. In Texas, the population density varies considerably, thus leading to the necessity of covering more square miles per pop to break even. I’m sure there are many more examples elsewhere in the world where we can’t justify pops with say radii of 1 KM.
However, I would point out even in Germany in 1980 there was plenty of land which could be reached only with pops offering substantial radii.
Yet in NYC, one might have 10,000 folks per city block (more or less).
The importance of the SR2 and similar 400 mW products can not be overstated in the case of a low to medium density operator.

I can’t fathom operating a pop on LESS than 400mW!
The SR2 and SR5 are great cards, the Senao 8602 is ok but not as good as the SR2.
For AP use, I will only put in SR2… clients, I don’t mind the 8602 unless they need the sensitivity of the SR2, but then you’re talking about a pretty marginal connection anyways!
As far as lower powered radios for clients and such, the R52 is the best card out there right now, followed closely by the CM9. I do not recommend the 2511MP because the prism driver isn’t too great on ROS. It works fine, but could have some more features - you won’t get WEP, WPA, or NStream on a 2511MP.
Compex has a 23dBm atheros card, but I haven’t personally used it so I can’t comment on its’ capabilities.
In general, the SR series, and R52 will cover most needs.
