A very annoying fact is that the dude can not be used to upgrade RoS devices, one of the major reason we have it beside its nice ability to monitor devices.
Currently we do not know what to do about it, it is no option for us to sit upgrade devices manually one by one. One option would be to make some ssh+scp+key solution with a script going around updating routers, but the concept of The Dude is broken as for now.
To change monitoring program for us is not a simple task, and it would not solve the upgrade operations anyway.
I am sure mikrotik boys/girls have their reason to change something that broke this upgrade function, but it is bad for us and will cost us lot of money so we decided to freeze further patching.
This happens for me with 6.24 also. Dude no longer sees the packages for devices that have been upgraded to 6.24 and 6.25. Trying to upgrade a 6.24 device to 6.25 via the Dude gives an error of “packages unknown”. Normally this upgrade process is pretty reliable.
It worked for us with RoS6.24. Only way to do upgrades now is to use own deployment scripts with scp+ssh to update and reboot the routers. But we are not there yet, first we need to make a new user on all routers we have then deploy ssh keys to them.
We are back to old days!
Anyone who know if the beta version of the dude supports upgrading ?
