I’ve had a strange issue where the disk space ran out on the dude server, and as a result the dude service had supposingly lost all its data, I have to now login as admin/[nopassword]
and I can’t see anything that was already there… I began to assume “the dude” database was lost and I have to start all over…
UNTILL today, I noticed i’m still getting dude alerts which are in sequence with the servers it is monitoring, so if i bring down a server the dude is monitoring the dude will alert me still, however if I log into the dude its blank, as if starting from scratch…
any recommendations how i could bring forth that hiden dude service?
My Dude server also runs WSUS, which can consume a HUGE amount of disk space, depending on its configuration. For the second time now, WSUS has completely filled my hard drive, causing a few apps to stop functioning… including The Dude.
After clearing out space on the disk, rebooting the server, restarting apps, etc, I noticed that the Dude has completely lost of its data… well it appears that way anyway… but like the OP has previously mentionned, alerts are still sent. The Device list is completely blank… the maps are gone, everything is gone. BUT when I go through the discovery process, and then look at the device list, the devices are duplicated!
For the time being, I went ahead and totally reset the Dude’s database and I’m starting out fresh (for the 3rd time now). I’ll make it a point to start backing up the database in case this happens again.
Perhaps someone at Mikrotik can try to reproduce the same problem again and see what is causing the Dude database to corrupt. Perhaps code could be added that would avoid the DB to corrupt when the disk gets full… or some sort of DB recovery process could be written to rebuild the DB.
