The problem with losing space on the built-in memory

is this "/export verbose"?

yes with show-sensitive

"/export" without verbose is easier to read. verbose export contains a lot of noise.

You just can't please everyone... Everything has already been explained, so why is everyone looking for the problem somewhere else? Once again, there are hap ax lite devices that were flashed via netinstall on 7.21rc1, fully configured with containers, but after adding pppoe and a couple of reboots, the space disappeared to 0. Deleting the settings and containers, as well as resetting the configuration with a downgrade/firmware update, does not restore the space to its original amount. After reflashing with netuninstall, the space returned, but for some reason this problem did not occur with hap ax2/hap ax3. I have listed only what was at hand. In general, it is not clear why configurations are needed if they do not demonstrate the problem in any way. No one touched the size of the partitions; they remained the same before and after the problem. Filling the binary backup also does not take up space if it was copied while the problem existed. The screenshot above from Winbox was taken after resetting the configuration before netinstall, showing how much space the system occupies.

You asking wrong people. We're not here to please you, just saying your verbose export is hard to read. So no one will examine it voluntarily.

You'd better make a supout.rif and send it to support@mikrotik.com explaining your issues (steps to reproduce, etc).

Besides that, I do not understand how people can expect a “lite” device to have functions like hosting a container without running out of storage.

Many if not most Mikrotik devices have 128mib nand (or 16mib flash ).

How should this respond to the bug that the system starts to take up more space on the built-in memory than it should? What kind of toxic attitude is this out of nowhere?

All MikroTik devices run basically the same software with the same feature set, no matter if it is a “lite” device or a large CCR or ROSE device.

However, users are expected to understand they are not supposed to use a “lite” device as a VM host or the core router of their ISP (that has been seen as well on the forum).

Maybe it is better when MikroTik somehow starts enforcing limits on what can be done on a device, to protect the users from trying things a device is not up to, and then complaining here that it is all bad.

That could start with warnings in the documentation. But maybe also with removing the capability to set some of the device-mode flags on some classes of devices.

Mikrotik is promoting container feature on almost every consumer device they have released in past few years.

The hap Ax lite Is not so much limited, It is 256 Mb RAM, 128 Mb storage, even if It has a relatively low power Arm (32 bit) processor.

IMHO noone can expect that It will be "good" with containers (and containers tells little, without knowing exactly which ones and how they are configured), but if they can run on It, they shouldn't create this kind of non-recoverable-without-netinstall storage issues.

It would be true that in general the out-of-storage issue should be protected better by RouterOS, but it does not seem that this is happening, not only for containers but also for other features.

We see regular forum visits from people who have overflowed the storage for whatever reason, and they aren’t happy they need to do a netinstall (without keeping config).

Probably the only reason we do not see a lot more issues with containers is that they are not realistically available on 16MB devices, of which there are so many, and that there are so many devices where storage cannot be expanded.

Nothing protects me from using my family car to transport tons of bricks day by day to the construction site as I CAN do this. Should I complain that I have to replace suspension and engine as they got overused in so short time?

Possibility does not imply usability.

It's strange that most users do not complain that new games require to provide "more coke coal" to play new games? Why? Why my 8GB laptop with mobile QUADRO card does not let me play the Witcher 4?

ROS missing the tools to find out the reason for this.
