The right equipment question

Good day all,

I am new to MikroTik products and advance networking so before I burn my fingers again, I would like to confirm if I am buying the right product as recommended by a IT company.

I have a small network but with a complicated setup… I think! (lol)

I have 3 incoming internet providers: (almost)

  1. 1 x RJ45 jack in 1 of my rooms provided by building management (Setup = PPPoE)

  2. 1 x adsl modem (but must still buy this item and order the service)

  3. 1 x Vodafone (Huawei) B970 HSDPA Router (3G Modem/Router)

  4. Then I have a wired gigabit network on 2 gigabit switches (all devices = static IP’s) (PLANET 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch=GSD-805)

  5. And also 1 x UBIQUITI Bullet M2 (BM2-HP) wireless radio setup as AP

It was recommended I use the RouterBoard 750G for this setup

I understand from the IT company that they will setup the product as follow:

Internet
Ethernet port 1 connected to 1. above
Ethernet port 2 connected to 2. above
Ethernet port 3 connected to 3. above

Gigabit Lan
Ethernet port 4 connected to 4. above

Wireless AP
Ethernet port 5 connected to 5. above

I also understand from some reading from MikroTik (wiki) that 1 port can NOT be used and therefor only 4 ports are available and NOT 5 ports

Question 1: Is the above understanding correct, if not which product do I need?

Question 2: I would like 5 above (UBIQUITI Bullet M2 (BM2-HP) wireless radio setup as AP) to be able to make use of only 2 above so that the AP users can ONLY use that internet and NOT have any other access to the rest of the network… Is this possible?

Question 3: I would like to be able to manage users using 5 above (UBIQUITI Bullet M2 (BM2-HP) wireless radio setup as AP) Is this possible?

Question 4: Can I buy any adsl wired modem or do I need a adsl/router? Please recomend a good product for 2 above if possibe?

Last Question 5: As I mentioned before I am new to advance networking but very willing to learn so that I understand the workings of my network. But will this MikroTik forum be willing to help and support me when needed? (As I dont understand all network guru talk and I am already afraid of asking stupid questions)
(Sorry I had to ask as I see many experts have a not so friendly attitude on forums, esspecialy when new and dont understand the guru talk)

I hope my requirements has been explained properly and clearly, but please ask if I need to provide more info…

Thank you very very much in advance

  1. all five ports can be used. A 750G should be sufficient
  2. yes
  3. yes
  4. a modem is sufficient
  5. usually, yes. Particularly if you aren’t expecting full solutions but just answers or confirmations to specific questions

Good day

Thank you for coming back to me…

Greetings

Daniel
